Immigration Task Force of the Salt Lake Chamber statement on the nomination of Ronald Mortensen to Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration

The Salt Lake Chamber Immigration Task Force issued the following statement on the nomination of Ronald Mortensen to Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration:

“The Salt Lake Chamber has spent significant time developing a pragmatic and business-friendly approach to comprehensive immigration reform. That is one of the reasons we helped develop the Utah Compact along with political, business, law enforcement and religious leaders. As a state originally settled by religious refugees, Utah has a strong history of welcoming those with a desire to help build a vibrant community. Utahns value compassion, openness and economic prosperity. We call upon the Trump administration to withdraw its nomination of Ronald Mortensen and upon Utah’s congressional delegation to actively oppose it, and encourage them to work together to find a candidate who reflects core Utah values.”
