Rep. Mia Love has raised more than $3.2 million for her midterm election race against Democrat Ben McAdams.
Love’s quarterly financial disclosure with the FEC shows she raised $337,000 since her pre-primary report in June. $105,000 of that came from political action committees. Since the start of the 2018 election cycle, Love has raised a total of $3,270,000. She has pulled in $793,000 from political committees during the period.
Love’s campaign has spent $2.55 million during the current cycle, leaving her with $1.233 million in her campaign account.
Democrat Ben McAdams has not yet filed his latest financial disclosure, but his campaign told UtahPolicy.com last month he had approximately $1.1 million in cash on hand.
Recent polling shows Love leading McAdams by 4-points.
The race is shaping up to be one of the most expensive in Utah during the 2018 midterms. However, it still does not match love’s spending rate from her previous campaign runs. In 2014, Love spent $5.1 million to defeat Democrat Doug Owens. She spent nearly $5.3 million to defeat Owens during their 2016 rematch. Love spent $2.3 million during her unsuccessful 2012 bid against Democrat Jim Matheson.
Love’s 4-point lead over McAdams is a far cry from the R+13 rating for the 4th CD from the Cook Political Report, which is why Love is considered one of the most vulnerable Republicans in the 2018 midterms. Utah’s 4th Congressional District is rated the 91st “most Republican” in the nation by the Cook Political Report, which rates the contest between Love and McAdams as “lean Republican.”
