Sen. Stuart Adams announces bid for president

As expected, Layton Sen. Stuart Adams has announced his candidacy to become president of the Utah Senate. He will need to convince a majority of his caucus in an election held right after the November election. Here is his statement to his fellow Republican senators:

“It has been a privilege to serve with you in the Utah Senate.  Together, under the great leadership of President Niederhauser, we have done tremendous things that have truly benefited the citizens of the State of Utah.  Thank you for giving me the responsibility and opportunity of serving as the Majority Whip these past 6 years. Today I want to reach out to you and formally announce that I am running for Senate President.

“I value your friendship and appreciate your individual expertise and experience.  Over the years we have worked diligently together with significant positive results.  The Senate has developed a proud reputation of working in a transparent, collaborative and deliberative way and, if elected President, I am committed to continuing that approach.  But I also want you to know that I am committed to doing all I can to help improve our processes; and with that in mind, I look forward to meeting with you and discussing any ideas you have that might help us serve our state.

“Our state has a bright future and I believe if we work together, our greatest days are still ahead.  Together, we can meet any opportunity or challenge.

“I would be honored to serve and appreciate your support.  Thank you.”
