Mayor Bradburn Eliminates Previous Salary Question from Applications

According to recent studies, Utah is one of the worst states for its pay gap between men and women.

Identifying and reducing the pay gap at the city government level is a priority for Mayor Kurt Bradburn. Bradburn announced today that he is eliminating the “previous wage” question from all city job applications.

“A huge priority for my administration is to implement fair hiring practices which is why I have removed the “previous salary” question from our job applications. Studies have shown because women are generally paid less than male co-workers, asking female job candidates about past salaries can create wage disparity in future positions. By eliminating the question, we will be better able to make pay decisions based on past experience and value added.”
