Local business community to meet with Utah federal delegation in Washington, D.C.

The Salt Lake Chamber, Utah’s largest and longest-standing business association, will take 60 local business and community leaders to Washington, D.C. this week for their annual trip to the nation’s capital.

“We look forward to this trip every year as it serves as an important role in the Chamber’s public policy efforts. It provides us the opportunity to share the business community’s priorities for Congress such as immigration, trade, health and entitlement reform, and regulation,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “We encourage our congressional leaders to collaborate with partners in the public and private sector and to work across the aisle to advance federal solutions that strengthen our state’s economic prosperity and quality of life.”

The Chamber’s annual Washington, D.C. trip, September 25-28, is an extraordinary, high-level networking, educational and policy development opportunity. The trip brings together Utah’s business leaders with members of our federal delegation and other policy and business groups headquartered in D.C. Additionally, attendees will get to participate in a specialized track on the Capitol Riverfront Project or the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

“Traveling to Washington, D.C. with the Salt Lake Chamber over the years has been remarkable. This annual trip has afforded me countless business relationships, life-long friendships, and direct access to our federal delegation, their staff, top lecturers and some of the nation’s finest thinkers. But most importantly, provides the opportunity to understand how to have your voice heard in the public policy arena,” said Brent Lange, vice president and CDO of Hale Centre Theatre. “How often do you get to play Constitutional Jeopardy with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, visit one-on-one with Speaker Paul Ryan, and tour the Pentagon, Federal Reserve and National Monuments all in the same week?”

The 2018 Salt Lake Chamber Washington, D.C. Trip is made possible by this year’s generous sponsors: EnergySolutions and Young Living Essential Oils.
