House Speaker Paul Ryan delivered his farewell speech on Wednesday and took a light-hearted jab at his 2012 running mate, Mitt Romney.
“We’re going to have a lot of new faces around Congress next year,” said Ryan. “I hear a lot of good things about this fresh-faced guy from Utah.”
Romney is heading to Washington 6 years after losing that 2012 presidential race to Democrat Barack Obama. Romney is taking the Senate seat being vacated by Orrin Hatch who is retiring after 42 years in Washington.
“So here’s my advice,” Ryan continued. “This place is full of wonders and opportunity. But do your best to stay grounded. It’s either you change things or things change you. You’ve got to work hard around here and stay who you are.”
