RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel explained her defense of President Donald Trump following the publication of a harsh op-ed about Trump’s character penned by her uncle, incoming Sen. Mitt Romney.
On Wednesday, McDaniel used Twitter to defend Trump against her uncle’s criticism, which raised eyebrows, given her family ties.
POTUS is attacked and obstructed by the MSM media and Democrats 24/7. For an incoming Republican freshman senator to attack @realdonaldtrump as their first act feeds into what the Democrats and media want and is disappointing and unproductive. https://t.co/ArhI7Bi7bo

Thursday morning, McDaniel talked with Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy, and said her defense of Trump had nothing to do with family and everything to do with an attack on the president.
“I love my uncle,” said McDaniel. “My tweet yesterday had nothing to do with family.”
McDaniel said anytime Republicans are critical of the president, it turns into a media “feeding frenzy” and gives energy to Democrats.
“I would have done this with any freshman incoming senator and I would have said let’s focus on the real issues here which are Democrats proposing dangerous policies for our country.
