Stewart: Schiff has ‘virtually nothing’ to prove his collusion claim

Rep. Chris Stewart continued his criticism of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff on Friday, saying the Democrat has “virtually nothing” to back up his claims of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Appearing on Fox News, Stewart told host Bill Hemmer that Schiff should step down from the chairmanship when he is “so blindly political” and “ruled by emotion.”

“There is virtually nothing that Mr. Schiff has seen that the American people haven’t seen. It’s not like has some secret briefings the rest of us don’t have,” said Stewart.

Stewart added that Rep. Schiff’s claims are not backed up by the Mueller report and Attorney General Barr’s four-page summary and the Democrats are playing politics.

“If the Democratic leadership wants to continue to tell the American people there is evidence of collusion, then I challenge them to impeach this president. You are accusing him of treason. You are accusing him of betraying his own country. If you truly believe that, then impeach him and put your evidence before the American people. But they would rather make these accusations without having to have a trial,” he said.
