ArchiveWatch: Reyes says disabled military vets should have student loan debt forgivenBryan Schott·May 30, 2019· Share Attorney General Sean Reyes says military veterans with permanent disabilities should have their student loan debt wiped out. Reyes, appearing on Fox Business Channel Thursday, said those veterans are deserving of debt relief. “These heroes have risked their lives, sacrificed their health to protect our nation and serve our country,” said Reyes. “On average they carry around $24,000 (of debt).” Reyes is part of a group of 52 state attorneys general who signed on to a letter to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos asking that the debt be forgiven. Reyes said there are around 42,000 veterans who would be eligible to have their student debt extinguished, but only 9,000 have taken advantage of the law so far. Reyes appeared on the program along with Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry.
