Mayor Jenny Wilson announces online ‘People’s Choice’ voting for Jordan River Parkway ideas competition

Mayor Jenny Wilson announced that online voting to select the People’s Choice Award winner for On The River’s Edge Ideas Competition will begin June 18th at 9:00 a.m.

“We invite county residents to vote for their favorite ideas to improve, conserve and activate a mid-valley stretch of the Jordan River Parkway,” said Mayor Wilson. “The creativity and innovation in these competition entries provide a vision for the future of this important regional amenity.”

The idea that receives the most votes will be named the winner of the People’s Choice Award and the team behind the idea will receive a $4,000 cash prize.

Voting starts on June 18th at 9:00 a.m. and will end on May 25th at 10:00 p.m. Voting is limited to one vote per day per unique email address. On The River’s Edge – People’s Choice Award voting.

On The River’s Edge, an ideas competition, was launched in March and asked architects, planners and artists from across the nation to submit ideas that would reimage what’s possible along a 3.5-mile stretch of the Jordan River Parkway in the heart of Salt Lake County. Fifteen teams from California, Washington and throughout Utah submitted their ideas.

A jury of 11 experts and elected officials met to choose the Jury Award Winner ($20,000 cash prize) and five Innovation Award Winners ($2,500 cash prize each) in the areas of Activation, Connectivity, Conservation, Recreation and Economic Prosperity.

All the winners of the competition will be announced by Mayor Wilson at 10:00 a.m. on June 27th.
