Romney snubbed by White House on coronavirus task force

Mitt Romney 09

Sen. Mitt Romney was the only Republican Senator not named to a congressional task force created by the White House to study how to kick start the nation’s economy in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Hill reports the White House released a list of 70 senators named to the “Opening Up America Again Congressional Group.” Romney was the only Republican Senator not included on that list. The Hill reports “a source familiar with the selection process confirmed Romney was not invited to attend.”

Utah Sen. Mike Lee was included as a member of the task force.

Romney was the only Republican who voted to remove President Trump for abuse of power during his impeachment trial earlier this year.

Romney’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
