Senator Hyde-Smith (R-MS) and U.S. Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) introduced the Gun-owner Registration Information Protection Act (GRIP Act) on March 11, 2021. Congressman Chris Stewart (R-UT) released the following statement:
“Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the Democratic majority wasted no time going after the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. Today, House Democrats passed two gun control bills – safely behind walls of barbed wire and armed National Guard – that violate the Constitution. The right of Americans to defend themselves and their families is fundamental.
The GRIP Act, of which I am a proud cosponsor, will defend that right. This legislation is designed to protect Americans’ privacy rights, ensuring the federal government does not support any state efforts to collect the personal information of legal gun owners. Americans don’t need a gun registry – they need lawmakers who protect their Constitutional rights.”
