Utah showcased its strong life sciences industry at January’s Arab Health trade show in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Four companies exhibited their healthcare products and industry expertise in the Utah booth while building stronger relationships with healthcare professionals worldwide. The companies also landed business deals with buyers who want Utah healthcare products. Other Utah companies that attended the show include Maxtec and Varian Medical Systems.
Arab Health is a leading medical and health care trade show that focuses on the health care, medical device and diagnostic industries. The four companies that showcased in the Utah booth were Summit Medical Products, Inc., Novarad Enterprise Imaging Solutions, Arlington Scientific, Inc. and Megadyne Medical Products.
“Exhibiting at Arab Health provided opportunities for Summit Medical to meet with leads we didn’t know exhisted,” said CEO LeVoy Haight of Summit Medical Products. “One gentleman decided to visit Arab Health after learning we would be there. We are completing documentation for his first order.”
The State of Utah is known worldwide for its medical products and diagnostics and is home to more than 1,000 medical companies. The strength of the life sciences sector in the state makes Utah the gateway for foreign companies looking to tap into the United States health care sector.
“Utah’s life sciences industry was well represented in Dubai,” said Brett Heimburger, Director of Utah’s International Trade and Diplomacy Office. “These four companies carry a wide range of healthcare products, and they did a great job showing the world what our state can offer to meet rapidly growing global healthcare demand. The show also showcased Utah as a premier destination for companies looking to relocate to or expand their operations in the United States.”
Life sciences is one of the strongest industries in the state, employing more than 30,000 people with an average wage of $63,839 (150 percent above the state average). The state’s life sciences industry maintains a focus on medical devices, pharmaceuticals, natural products, diagnostics, equipment and reagents.
