Former Salt Lake City Mayor Dee Dee Corradini Dies

The first woman to serve as Salt Lake City Mayor, Dee Dee Corradini, passed away Sunday according to multiple media reports.

Corradini, 70, served two terms as Salt Lake City Mayor from 1992 to 2000.

She was diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 2014, but did not make her condition public until February of this year.

As Mayor, Corradini helped prepare Salt Lake City to host the 2002 Winter Olympics. She also approved the controversial sale of the Main Street Plaza to the LDS Church.

She also served as the president of the U.S. Women's Ski Jumping team.
