On Thursday, June 4th, 2015, the Utah State Democratic Party adopted the Utah State Delegate and Affirmative Action Plan for the 2016 Democratic National Convention after a 30-day public comment period.

The plan outlines the requirements for individuals wishing to run for delegate to the 2016 Democratic National Convention, as well as guidelines to which the Utah State Democratic Party must adhere throughout the delegate selection process.

The State of Utah will be allotted 30 delegates to the 2016 Democratic National Convention.Four of the 30 delegate slots are automatically allocated to party leaders. The other 26 positions will be elected at the Utah State Democratic Party Convention to be held April 15-16, 2016. The adopted plan allocates delegates according to the Democratic voting percentages in Utah’s four congressional districts. It also provides for the allocation of delegates to Democratic national presidential candidates based on the Presidential Preference Vote at the March 22, 2016 neighborhood caucuses.

Included in the plan is the appointment of an Affirmative Action Committee, whose mission is to make the delegate selection process accessible to all Utah Democrats. The plan also provides for the selection of Standing Committee members, the delegation chair, convention pages, and challenges to the plan, implementation, and specific delegates.

The plan is 39 pages long without attachments. Copies of the plan are available from the Utah State Democratic Committee at 825 North 300 West Suite C400, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84103 and on the web HERE.
