About a third of Utahns say they plan to stay inside the Beehive State for their summer vacations this year.
A new UtahPolicy.com survey conducted by Dan Jones & Associates finds 36% of Utahns say they will take their vacations inside Utah. Another 23% say they will vacation outside of the state. 26% say they will vacation both in and outside of Utah.
Some interesting numbers from our survey:
42% of Utahns between the age of 25 and 34 say they plan to vacation in-state. That's not surprising as many in that age group have young families and it can be expensive to travel with kids in tow.
The highest percentage of Utahns planning to travel outside of the state (30%) is in the 18-24-year-old age range.
44% of those 65 and over say they will take their vacation this year inside Utah.
17% between 18 and 24 and 16% aged 55-64 say they do not plan to take any vacation at all this year.
The survey was conducted June 2-8, 2015. 601 Utah adults were contacted via telephone and online means. It has a margin of error of +/- 4%.
