Press Release: Hard Work Turns Hub for Criminal Activity Into a Safe Place for Families and Kids to Play

Historic Bruce Field no longer has a welcome mat out front for criminals thanks to the collaborative efforts of Salt Lake County, Unified Police Department and community members.

Salt Lake County’s Office of Township Services Director Patrick Leary says that after a year of renovation, the park is revitalized, safe and ready for families and kids to play and get together with their neighbors. Project leaders will be joined by a group of young athletes to kick-off its opening by trying out the soccer field at Bruce Field.

New equipment and multi-purpose field are part of the improvements at Bruce Field. The project was made possible through a collaboration between Mayor Ben McAdams, Sheriff Jim Winder, Salt Lake County Township Services and Parks and Recreation, Unified Police Department, the Kearns Pony Baseball League, and the Honorary Colonel’s Association.
