Sen. Orrin Hatch Discusses the 2016 GOP Presidential Field (Video)

Sen. Orrin Hatch minces no words when discussing the 2016 presidential election. "It's the most important election in this nation's history," he says.

We caught up with Hatch at the 2016 Utah GOP Convention where he said he's glad the field for this year's election on the Republican side is so deep, currently sitting at 17 candidates.

"I've never seen a field as good as this one," says Hatch. "I'm in favor of Jeb Bush, who was a terrific conservative governor, but it's hard to make a decision because all the other's are friends as well. We've got a really good stable."

Hatch says the reason he thinks this election is so important is the number of Supreme Court nominees the next president will likely make.

"Every Republican with half a brain knows the next president is going to have one, two or maybe three Supreme Court nominees. That alone is enough motivation for Republicans to make sure we don't have another Barack Obama in office, which Hillary Clinton would pretty much be."

Hatch was given the 2015" Ronald Reagan Conservative Statesman" award by the party.
