Weber, Davis and Utah County joined nine other Utah counties in authorizing that a local option sales tax be placed on the November 2015 ballot. The sales tax option of a quarter-cent – or one penny for every four dollars – would pay for local roads, bus service, trails and sidewalks.
“Today’s actions will now give more than 80% of the Utah’s population the opportunity to vote to fund things that are close to home – the transportation options we use and need the most,” said Ron Jibson, chair of the Utahns for Responsible Transportation Investment. “We look forward to helping voters understand that voting yes will protect local businesses, improve our air quality and enhance our quality of life.”
