Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, issued the following statement regarding Salt Lake City’s mayoral transition:
“It has been a great pleasure to work side by side with Mayor Ralph Becker. He is a tremendous collaborator and a professional who has always worked with a strong desire to provide exceptional public service. Mayor Becker joined with the business community to revitalize Salt Lake City as a premier destination for culture, commerce and entertainment. His commitment to serve our community and partner with the business leaders resulted in the completion of City Creek, a reinvigorated main street and downtown solidifying its position as the hub of a first-class regional rail infrastructure. His leadership is also visible in the $1.8 billion terminal redevelopment project at Salt Lake City International Airport that will benefit our community for generations.
“Mayor Becker should also be lauded for his efforts to tackle chronic homelessness, and provide leadership on air quality and the Mountain Accord effort. As a Chamber, we thank Mayor Becker for the dedication, partnership and thoughtfulness he provided as Salt Lake City’s Mayor.
“We are also excited to work with Mayor Biskupski to build on these successes and tackle other challenges and opportunities facing our capital city. As a chamber with a statewide mission and reach, we understand that the capital city serves and represents every Utahn in some way. The Salt Lake Chamber is energized by Mayor Biskupski’s efforts to address critical homelessness issues, spur further economic development throughout the city and lead on improving our air quality that will benefit every resident and business in our state.”
