A new survey finds Mitt Romney’s speech lambasting Donald Trump’s qualifications to be president may have not done much to hurt the GOP frontrunner’s chances.
The poll from Morning Consult finds nearly 3/4 of GOP voters said Romney’s speech either had no effect or made them more likely to vote for Trump. Only 20% said they were less likely to support Trump.
In fact, only 5% of Trump’s supporters said Romney’s speech made them less likely to vote for him, while 56% said it solidified their support of the businessman.
The same survey found Trump’s favorability ratings among Republicans slightly higher than Romney’s. Trump has a 55% favorable rating and 42% unfavorable mark, while Romney has a 51% favorable rating compared to 41% unfavorable.
