Big Crowd Expected to Attend Bernie Sanders Rally on Friday

Bernie SandersMore than 5,500 people are expected to show up for the Bernie Sanders town hall meeting on Friday afternoon.

The Sanders campaign tells UtahPolicy.com that they are expecting upwards of 5,500 attendees at the Garden Place at This is the Place State Park on Friday afternoon. The rally will be outside in the parking lot around the reception hall.

That kind of attendance could make Sanders’ rally one of the largest political events in Utah in recent memory.

Officials with This is the Place Park tell UtahPolicy.com they have no idea how many people will fit in the area because they have never held an outside event in that venue before.

“If you find out how many people are coming, please tell us,” joked one event planner when asked what they were expecting.

The Sanders campaign says admission to the rally will be first come, first serve. No chairs or signs on sticks or banners will be allowed on the grounds.

Ohio Senator John Kasich will hold a town-hall meeting on the University of Utah campus at the same time as the Sanders rally, while Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is also expected in Salt Lake City Friday evening. Texas Senator Ted Cruz will make a campaign stop in Utah on Saturday.
