On Thursday, March 31, Utahns showed their support in extraordinary ways for the nonprofit organizations and schools that matter most to them through Love Utah Give Utah.
15,491 people donated a total of $1,229,800 to 463 Utah nonprofit organizations and schools during the 24 hour online giving day. From their computers or phones nonprofits and their supporters could watch donations go up in real time. Contributions poured in at an astonishing rate of $51,242 every hour, $854 every minute, and $14.23 every second.
“We are thrilled with the results of this year’s Love Utah Give Utah,” said Alex Eaton, Executive Director at the Community Foundation of Utah. “Love Utah Give Utah is a powerful demonstration of the impact we can have collectively on our communities. We’re excited to help the public rally behind the organizations that make Utah great.”
Love Utah Give Utah multiplied the impact of individual donations in several ways. Many employers used Love Utah Give Utah to match employee donations to their favorite nonprofits, and corporations took the opportunity to support the organizations they care about with matching grants. Love Utah Give Utah’s “leaderboard prizes” totaling $84,000 rewarded the nonprofits with the highest number of unique donors amongst organizations of similar size. Organizations in 1st place received $10,000, 2nd place received $5,000, 3rd place received $3,000, 4th place received $2,000, and 5th place received $1,000.
