  1. The horrific mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub that left at least 50 people dead and 53 wounded has sparked wildly different responses from Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Trump says the shooting underscores his argument for tougher controls on immigration while Clinton called for the U.S. to increase efforts to defend against terrorism. President Barack Obama called the mass shooting an “act of terror” [The Hill, Politico, Bloomberg, Associated Press].

  2. Bernie Sanders will meet with Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night to discuss platform proposals for the Democratic Party and whether he could support her bid for the White House [Politico].

  3. Mia Love‘s bid for another term in Congress may be in jeopardy as a new poll shows she trails Democratic challenger Doug Owens by six points [Tribune]. The Utah GOP is starting to step up their attacks on Owens. The most recent attack is over Owens holding a fundraiser with Nancy Pelosi [Utah Policy].

  6. Donald Trump‘s unpopularity among Utah voters could make the state a toss-up contest in November [Tribune].

  7. Gary Herbert and Jonathan Johnson start to make their final pitch to voters ahead of the June 28 primary election [Deseret News].

  8. The Utah Jazz will ask Salt Lake City to reimburse the team for more than $20 million in tax money as part of a $110 million renovation to Vivint Smart Home Arena [Tribune].

  9. Democratic Rep. Rebecca Chavez-Houck plans to bring a bill allowing terminally ill patients the option of ending their lives back to the 2017 legislature [Deseret News].
