Government strategy firm Pathway Associates names Yocom & Kanshepolsky as partners

National nonprofit and government consulting firm Pathway Associates today announced two new partners. Government, nonprofit and business leader Holly Yocom has joined the firm as partner and nonprofit leadership executive Joelle Kanshepolsky has been promoted to partner. The new partnerships represent the firm’s commitment to deepening services to clients in the government, nonprofit and fundraising sectors.

“With so much change in the country’s economic and cultural landscape, we are seeing increasing need from our clients to further strengthen their operating strategy, build fundraising capacity, enhance their organizational structure, implement solid financial management and plan for the future. We are thrilled with what our new partners, Holly Yocom and Joelle Kanshepolsky, will add to those efforts.” said Amberlie Phillips, Managing Partner of Pathway Associates. “Additionally, we know it’s extra meaningful we are announcing an all-female partnership during Women’s History Month.”

Holly Yocom comes to Pathway from Salt Lake County, where she served as director of community services and oversaw a +$140M annual budget. Her work focused on leading seven divisions, countless projects including the 2016 $90M Parks and Recreation Bond, Eccles Theater construction and opening and the County’s far-reaching and complex COVID response. Previous to her work at the County, Yocom served as executive director of the Utah Film Center and was an assistant vice president and executive compensation consultant at Zions Bancorporation. She holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Utah and has served on several boards including Utah Performing Arts Center Agency, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum Board and the Equality Utah Political Action Committee. Holly has been honored with a Community Foundation E-50 award, as a Utah Business Magazine 40 under 40 and with the Roy W. Simmons Community Service Award from Zions Bank.

“Holly’s experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors along with her tremendous strategy, budget management and leadership skills brings new growth opportunities for Pathway clients. Holly understands what it’s like for our government and nonprofit clients to balance tremendous and dynamic needs while championing innovation and being accountable to a finite budget. Our clients have a strong advantage from Holly’s counsel,” said Pathway Managing Partner Julie DeLong. “She is known as a strong leader who is able to apply her calm leadership style and build consensus among those with differing opinions. These are traits Pathway’s clients need and want and we’re thrilled Holly can help.”

Joelle Kanshepolsky was previously an associate at Pathway, joining the firm in 2020 with 25 years of professional, nonprofit experience. Kanshepolsky’s experience includes fundraising, donor communications, leadership, interim support, strategy development, governance and board relations as well as executive search. Most recently, she served as interim CEO for the Park City Community Foundation, Interim National Director of Philanthropy at Conservation Legacy and Interim development Director at The Refuge Utah. She also serves as Vice President of the Board of Women of the World. Joelle is a first-generation American, is conversational in Spanish and holds a master’s of management from the Heller School of Management at Brandeis University and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University.

“Joelle has done an outstanding job for Pathway Associates and our clients since she joined in 2020,” said Phillips. “Her work in not only developing nonprofit strategy but also understanding the efforts needed to fully execute the strategy, is invaluable to the situations many of our clients are facing. Her fundraising talents and recommendations have served our clients well, especially over the last two years, which have been an unprecedented, critical time for so many in the nonprofit industry.”
