Rob Newcomb, a Navy veteran from Farr West, Utah, will announce his bid for the U.S. Senate seat in the 2024 cycle at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial on the west lawn of the State Capitol. Newcomb will be running as a member of the Independent American Party.
Newcomb is the son of an Oregon Christian preacher and a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at age 19. He is a proud 3rd generation Navy veteran. Rob’s grandfather served in the Korean War and his father served in the Vietnam War. He enlisted into the Navy in 1999 and a few months after his first duty station, 9/11 occurred. Rob has traveled around the world to many countries and understands the diversity of different cultures, religions, and ideologies. Most significantly, he remembers the oath he took to ‘support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.’
