Curtis statement on HR7463

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 7463 – Making further continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2024. Following the vote, Representative John Curtis (R-UT) issued the following statement:

“Last November, I supported a continuing resolution (CR) to give Speaker Johnson the opportunity to unite the conference around a plan to rein in our out-of-control spending while responsibly keeping the government open.

I oppose any government shutdown as it is irresponsible for the government be funded by short term band aids. I am concerned this CR will increase the likelihood of an omnibus spending bill that will not represent Utah’s values. Ultimately, I opposed this CR because we should work together to solve this fiscal year’s funding instead of kicking the can down the road.”
