The Utah Office of Energy Development (OED) and the Utah Geological Survey (UGS) received a Utah Information Technology (IT) Excellence Award from the Utah Department of Government Operations Division of Technology Services for the Utah Energy Resources Web Experience. The sister agencies were recognized for the Best Use of GIS.
The Utah Energy Resources Web Experience offers users interactive maps, charts, and information on each of Utah’s energy resources and outlines the critical role energy plays in local economies. The site was modeled after the OED’s original energy resources web experience, and OED sought UGS’s partnership to elevate the site for the now richly layered and intuitive user experience.
“The new web experience shows the possibilities of combining the resources and expertise of two state agencies,” said Harry Hansen, Deputy Director at OED. “This partnership elevated the site to be more timely, more comprehensive, and more intuitive.”
The Utah IT Excellence Awards honor emerging leaders and innovative projects in government IT that enable Utah to meet constituent expectations for services and information, improve operating efficiency, and conserve tax dollars.
