Free summer meals and snacks program for students returns to Utah

The Utah State Board of Education’s Child Nutrition Program is pleased to announce that a wide range of locations across the state will be offering SUN Meals, which are free summer meals and snacks for students of all ages. These meals are available at no cost at schools, parks, and other popular neighborhood locations to help ensure that Utah students continue to receive nutritious food even when school is out.

The SUN Meals program is in addition to Utah SUN Bucks, which helps eligible families buy food during the summer months.

Meal Site Information:

  • The list of participating sites on the Utah State Board of Education website is current as of May 13, 2025. Please note that site availability and details may change after this date.
  • To find a summer meals site, you may alternatively visit the Summer Site Finder at https://www.fns.usda.gov/meals4kids. This tool is updated throughout the summer. Utah-specific updates will be posted by the end of May and June. Please note that meal service policies may vary depending on location.

Congregate vs. Non-Congregate Meal Sites:

  • Congregate sites require children to remain on-site while eating their meal.
  • Non-congregate sites (marked with an asterisk) may allow children to pick up meals and eat them off-site.
  • At some non-congregate sites, a parent or guardian may pick up meals on behalf of the child. In Utah, a parent/guardian is defined as the individual(s) responsible for the care of the child(ren) on the day of pickup. This does not include childcare providers or organizations caring for groups of unrelated children.
  • Please be aware that some sites may still require child presence even when meals are picked up by a parent or guardian.
