Utah Schools to celebrate American Founders and Constitution Month

Throughout September, Utah’s public schools will mark American Founders and Constitution Month with lessons, assemblies, and activities that connect students to the ideas and institutions of self-government. Constitution Day will be observed on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, in classrooms statewide.

As part of this year’s observance, there will be a Statewide Live Reading of the United States Constitution from the Utah State Capitol on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 10 to 11 a.m. Every classroom in Utah is invited to tune in. The reading will be divided into 50 sections read by 50 readers, with a special musical performance at the midpoint. The event will serve as a capstone to Constitution Month observances in schools.

“We are grateful to the educators, families, and communities who make this month a true celebration of American ideals,” said State Superintendent of Public Instruction Molly Hart. “Their efforts remind students that the principles written more than two centuries ago still light the path of freedom and democracy today.”

During the month, schools may host guest speakers, civics projects, primary-source discussions, creative displays, and student service events. Teachers will align activities to Utah’s social studies standards across grade levels and can incorporate age-appropriate resources and readings.

How to participate
Educators will receive details from their schools and districts on how to access the Sept. 30 live reading. Schools are encouraged to share photos and short summaries of activities on their usual communication channels.
