Utah business community applauds legislators with 2025 Legislative Business Champions Awards

The Salt Lake Chamber recognized the achievements of Utah legislators today with the presentation of the 2025 Legislative Business Champion awards. These awards honor those who have notably supported the Chamber’s priorities for building and preserving Utah’s business-friendly climate during the 2025 General Legislative Session.

This year, efforts on the hill included tackling topics like education and workforce development, homelessness and public safety, energy and other pressing issues. The Salt Lake Chamber tracked and monitored 334 business-related bills and proudly secured a 100% passage rate for all 13 of the Chamber’s priority bills in the 2025 session.

“Our priority bills this year presented innovative solutions and approaches to advance important initiatives that would help drive economic prosperity and quality of life,” said Derek Miller, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber. “Achieving a perfect passage rate is a tremendous reflection of the dedication and passion of our members, along with the strong support of Utah lawmakers. We look forward to continuing to work together to enhance Utah’s business community.”

This year, 77 lawmakers were honored with the Legislative Business Champion Award (complete list below), which is bestowed upon those who supported at least 85% of the Chamber’s priority votes, as well as those for their partnership with the Chamber’s work of advancing pro-business policies.

Legislator of the Year Awards were presented to the following:

  • Sen. Ann Millner – who is recognized for her passion for improving Utah’s education system and economic development specifically related to the state’s workforce preparation, public and higher education and affordable health care.
  • Rep. Tyler Clancy – who has combined compassion with his law enforcement experience to advance policies that address homelessness, enhance public safety and support workforce reentry.

The Chamber also extended special recognition to Erin Barry, vice president of government affairs of Merit Medical Systems, who was awarded the 2025 Member Business Legislative Champion award for her key role in advancing legislative initiatives that support economic growth and enhance community development.

The awards were presented at a special ceremony attended by the Chamber’s Board of Governors and Circle Level Members at the Utah State Capitol, celebrating the collective efforts that continue to position Utah as a leader in business and economic development.
