Americans Prefer Election Coverage to the Olympics

Hillary Clinton 04A new survey shows Americans are far more interested in the 2016 election than the quadrennial games in Rio.

A Huffington Post/YouGov survey finds Americans are three-times more likely to pay attention to the presidential race than the Olympics. Americans are also more likely, 40-31%, to watch election news than Olympic coverage.

In a rare moment of political unity, Republicans, Democrats and independents all say they prefer campaign coverage, although the margins differed by party. Democrats chose election news by only a narrow 5-point margin, while Republicans preferred it by a more substantial 23 points.
