BioUtah, Utah’s one and only association dedicated to the life sciences community, announced that registration is open for the 8th Annual Utah Life Sciences Summit (ULSS), the premier conference for Utah companies on the front lines of medical innovation.
The conference will be held November 3, 2017, at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah. Early Bird discounts are available for both members and non-members who register on or before October 1. For registration, sponsorship and exhibitor opportunities, visit: www.utahlifesciencesummit.com.
The ULSS will host a distinguished group of speakers and panelists, including industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, economic analysts, educators and policymakers. Headline speakers include Governor Gary Herbert, Tom Polen, President of BD Medical and Michael Phillips, M.D., Chief Clinical and Outreach Services Officer at Intermountain Healthcare. Luncheon keynote speaker, Natalie Gochnour, Associate Dean at the David Eccles School of Business and Director of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, will talk about an important new study examining the impact of the life sciences industry on the State’s economy. The popular “Speed Dating” session will return, allowing start-up companies to interact with and pitch to seasoned investors. There will also be two specialized tracks focused on regulatory, quality and compliance hot topics, and a primer for engineers on medical innovation.
“This important annual event brings together experts in a number of disciplines and members of Utah’s life sciences community, and we look forward to their participation in a robust dialogue on the opportunities and challenges facing our industry,” explained Dirksen Lehman, Corporate VP, Public Affairs, at Edwards Lifesciences and Chairman of BioUtah’s Board of Directors.
“The ULSS program is designed by and for the life sciences industry,” stressed Kelly Slone, President and CEO of BioUtah. “As a result, the sessions reflect the needs and diversity of the industry.”
“While the networking opportunities are fantastic, the conference is much more than that,” noted Travis Sessions, CEO of Biomerics, who also serves on the ULSS planning committee. “We want this meeting to help move the dial in terms of increasing access to investor capital, addressing workforce issues, tackling regulatory hurdles and building support for our policy agenda. We’re excited about the enthusiasm we’re already getting from speakers, sponsors and attendees about this year’s event.”
Session topics include:
- The Future of the U.S. Healthcare System and Adoption of Medical Innovation
- Utah Life Sciences Innovations – Hot Entrepreneurs and Companies to Watch
- Life Sciences Fundamentals – Financing and Exits
- The Future in Cancer Research
- Building a Strong Workforce
BioUtah’s annual Life Sciences Awards for Public Service, Corporate Contribution, Outstanding Individual, Entrepreneurship and Lifetime Achievement will be presented during the luncheon. Nominations are currently being accepted to recognize those who are making a difference in the industry and the lives of patients.
