Good Monday morning from Salt Lake City.

Welcome to Utah’s must-read daily political news rundown. Please encourage your friends and colleagues to sign up for our emails.

Here’s what is driving the day:

  • 1.1. million Americans lost health insurance last year.

Trivia winners!

Several readers were able to identify the significance of this plaque, which is in the posession of Rep. Craig Hall.

Capitol Dome Plaque 01

The plaque holds a piece of the original copper dome on Utah’s Capitol that was sheared off by a severe windstorm in 1980. Winds of up to 70 mph tore off the copper covering that was first installed in 1932.

Congratulations to the first three readers who submitted the correct answer:

  • Mary Lamb
  • Matt Howell
  • Mike Sibbett

Additionally, Bryant Howe is the winner of one of our limited-edition UtahPolicy.com laptop stickers.
