Bishop Takes Fundraising Lead Over McAleer

At the end of the last fundraising period, Democrat Donna McAleer had a small cash advantage over incumbent Republican Rob Bishop in the race for Utah’s 1st Congressional District. No more.

The latest round of reports shows Bishop has $96,681 cash on hand while McAleer has $82,926.

Bishop’s total was boosted by $127,369 in fundraising, which was less than the $175,101 he pulled in during the first quarter. But, it was enough to outpace McAleer’s donation total, which was just $74,026 in this quarter.

UtahPolicy rates the contest between Bishop and McAleer as “Solid Republican,” which means we expect Bishop to win handily come November.
