Mayor Becker to Join V.P. Biden, National Experts for Live, Innovative Transportation Summit

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker will join Vice President Joe Biden, a select group of U.S. mayors and thought leaders from the public and private sectors to explore solutions to transit and transportation challenges in the premier episode of a live news series hosted by the Washington Post, “America Answers: Fix My Commute.”

 
Participants include representatives of Tesla Motors, Google’s self-driving car project, Uber, Waze, Harvard’s Kennedy School, Haystack, Carnegie Mellon University and others.
 
Mayor Becker will participate in a Q&A session with a Washington Post reporter at 2 p.m. MDT to discuss successful policy direction and implementation here in Salt Lake City that is continuing to earn national attention. The daylong program will be streamed live here.
 
Highlights will include addressing air quality, mobility and livability goals through public transit partnerships, Complete Street philosophy, the Hive Pass program, GREENbike bike share, active transportation infrastructure and much more.
