Jobs Report Shows Utah’s Strong Performance Continues

Utah’s economy continues to rank among the strongest in the nation, according to new data released Friday. 

Private sector job growth is particularly strong in Utah, ranking third in the nation at 3.7 percent.

“Utahns should be proud that our unemployment rate continues to be among the lowest in the nation and every month more people are back at work,” said Gov. Gary R. Herbert. “Our economic growth has been impressive and steady with job growth in all sectors of our economy. It is a testament to our focus on cultivating an environment for business to succeed.”

Utah currently has the fourth lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 3.6 percent. States with lower or equal rates include North Dakota at 2.8 percent, South Dakota at 3.3 percent and Nebraska at 3.4 percent. Utah also ranked third in the nation in total job growth at 3.6 percent, trailing only North Dakota (4.9 percent) and Texas (3.9 percent).
