UTA Board Driving Reform

Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber issued the subsequent statement, following action taken by the Utah Transit Authority Board of Trustees, regarding executive compensation:

“Today, H. David Burton and the UTA Board of Trustees took major steps to raise the bar for one of the nation’s most outstanding public transportation systems.

“As a business community and as taxpayers, we not only request, but demand transparency from government. After several legislative audits, UTA has gone above and beyond in evaluating employee compensation.

“I want to personally commend the UTA Board and executive team for their actions today. Our past investments in transit are paying dividends for today’s economy and air quality. With the population growth facing the Wasatch Front, transit and the agency that provides that service must be both a reliable and a trusted option.

“These reforms prove once again that our transit agency is among the best in the nation.”
