As a Business Community, We Must Continue to Be Prepared for The Future

The state of Utah is coming off of a banner legislative session.

This year, strategic funding decisions were made by our legislature that will ensure Utah continues its economic vitality by strengthening our education and transportation systems.

We can’t rest on our laurels though.

Utah’s success can be attributed to the unique ability of its citizens and leaders in planning for the future. We have a rich history of doing so. And we thrive because of it.

With this in mind, the Salt Lake Chamber encourages the business community to support the recent efforts of Envision Utah in developing a statewide survey to ensure that Utah stays, in the words of Governor Herbert, “beautiful, prosperous, healthy, and neighborly for generations to come.”

The reason for the survey is straightforward. By 2050, our population is projected to nearly double. How will we as a state handle this growth? Will we have an educated populace? Will there continue to be economic opportunity? Will we have enough water and clean air?  Will our quality of life continue at such a high standard?

The answers to each of these questions depend on our choices.  Envision Utah has created a platform to let Utahns examine those choices and decide what they want our state to be like in the future.
