Mayors Becker, de Blasio named as Top 10 Mayors to Watch

Housing Finance names Mayor Becker – alongside Mayors Bill de Blasio (New York City), AnniseParker (Houston), Michael Hancock (Denver), Mitch Landrieu (New Orleans), and others – as Top 10 Mayors to Watch in addressing affordable housing shortages around the nation.

“Salt Lake City is growing fast, and we are working hard to ensure our Cityisaplace where everyone can afford aplace to live,” said Mayor Becker. “I am proud of the work Salt Lake is doing and it is nice to be recognized alongside so many other great American cities also working to address this issue.”

With help from many in the community, Salt Lake City has launched the 5,000 Doors Initiative that seeks to build 5,000 units of affordable housing over the next five years. Salt Lake City is also working with developers to ensure portions of the developments benefit those in the homeless community and those with special needs. The initiative will support residents with a low to middle-income and increase economic diversity within neighborhoods.
