Sen. Orrin Hatch throws his support behind GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush, calling the former Florida governor “a proven leader” on fiscal issues.
Reports The Hill:
Republican Sens. Orrin Hatch (Utah) and Dean Heller (Nev.) are throwing their support behind former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush ahead of an event in Reno, Nev., on Wednesday.
“Our nation is at a crossroads. It is in dire need of a proven leader. That leader is Jeb Bush,” Heller said in a statement to the Reno Gazette-Journal. “The nation needs the pragmatic, conservative, principled leadership that only Jeb provides. And Jeb understands why Nevada is important when appealing to the majority of American voters.”
Heller, in the statement, also cited Bush’s record as governor and that he believes “in growing the party and uniting it” ahead of the 2016 election as key factors in his decision.
“Jeb believes in growing the party and uniting it as he runs for president. That’s exactly what America needs,” Heller said. “Someone who has the vision, the experience, and the ability to bring our nation forward to experience the best days ahead of it. That person is Gov. Jeb Bush. I proudly endorse him to become the next president of the United States.”
Meanwhile, Hatch called Bush a “proven leader” and highlighted the former Florida governor’s fiscal record.
“He has a real record of cutting taxes, fostering job creation, and reforming government. I know Jeb will return the United States to a position of leadership in the world,” Hatch said in a statement, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
