Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) has announced the departure of his long-time Chief of Staff, Scott Parker.
Parker has accepted a full-time position with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a member of the Washington DC temple staff. Rep. Bishop offered the following statement regarding the departure of his friend and partner:
“Scott took a gamble in helping my first campaign, for which I will always be grateful, and he has been a hardworking and loyal Chief of Staff since we both came back here. It will be unusual walking by his office and seeing someone else there. This is an ideal opportunity for Scott to stay here close to family well after I am gone from Washington. I wish him well as he uses his considerable skills to serve the Church.”
Devin Wiser will assume the role of Chief of Staff in the office of Rep. Bishop. Wiser was born and raised in Utah’s Cache Valley. He is a graduate of Utah State University and holds a Juris Doctor from the George Mason University School of Law. Wiser has worked for Rep. Bishop as an intern, Staff Assistant, Legislative Assistant, Legislative Director, and most recently, as Deputy Chief Counsel for the House Committee on Natural Resources, of which Rep. Bishop is the Chairman.
