State Representative Jason Thompson announced today that he is running for re-election to continue serving Utah House District 3, reaffirming his commitment to listening, collaboration, and delivering practical solutions for families, educators, and communities in Cache Valley.
“Over the past term, I’ve worked to bring people together, strengthen families, and focus on thoughtful, common-sense policy,” Thompson said. “I believe Utah works best when leaders communicate openly, solve problems honestly, and stay focused on the people they serve. That is the approach I bring to the Legislature, and it is the approach I will continue to bring in the years ahead.”
During the 2025 General Legislative Session, Rep. Thompson served on the House Government Operations Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, and the Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee. He sponsored and passed legislation to improve public safety and support working families, including a bill to expand opioid overdose training and access to naloxone for alcohol servers, and legislation giving child care providers greater flexibility by allowing them to hire independent contractors through service marketplace platforms. He also advanced proposals to create child care tax credits for employers and to regulate unapproved supplement inhalation products marketed with misleading health claims.
As lawmakers prepare for the 2026 General Legislative Session, which begins January 20, 2026, Rep. Thompson is inviting constituents to attend a series of pre-session town hall meetings. These town halls are designed to give residents an opportunity to ask questions and talk with their elected officials about what to expect in the upcoming legislative session.
The town hall meetings will be held on:
- Tuesday, January 6, at 6:30 PM at Green Canyon High School
- Wednesday, January 7, at 6:30 PM at the Logan Library
- Thursday, January 8, at 6:30 PM at the River Heights City Office
Rep. Thompson emphasized that his approach to public service remains rooted in accessibility, transparency, and collaboration, noting that strong policy comes from engaging with the people it affects most.
“I’m running for re-election because I believe District 3 deserves a representative who listens, works hard, and leads with care,” Thompson said. “I hope my neighbors will join me at a town hall and be part of the conversation. There is still important work ahead, and I’m ready to keep showing up for the people of District 3.”
