New foundation launched to bring leadership training to Utah schools

Entrepreneur, community advocate and Utah House Representative Jason Thompson has announced the official launch of the Legacy Forward Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the next generation of youth leaders. The Foundation seeks to remove the financial barriers that prevent schools from accessing and sustaining leadership curriculum designed by trusted partners.

Rooted in Thompson’s personal journey from displaced teen to successful business founder, the Legacy Forward Foundation is designed to help students by giving them access to the training and educational framework they need to become lifelong leaders who prioritize and value education.

“I know what it feels like to have everything stacked against you,” says Thompson, “but I also know the power of an adult who believes in you, an opportunity that changes your direction, and a moment where you decide to keep moving forward. The Legacy Forward Foundation is about creating those moments for the next generation through proven leadership training, starting in schools. With our fundraising efforts, we’ll be able to help invest in schools that transform the way our students learn to be leaders.”

Thompson, who graduated from BYU and went on to build and sell a successful Utah-based business before pursuing a career in politics, believes the Legacy Forward Foundation will be his most important work to date.

“Success wasn’t the end of my story, it was the beginning of my responsibility,” Thompson says. “This is the legacy I want to leave behind, and I hope our work will inspire the next generation of Utah’s leaders.”
