The Utah Republican Party 2017 Organizing Convention Arrangements Committee announced that Thomas Wright, UTGOP National Committeeman of the Republican National Committee, and former Chairman of the Utah Republican Party has been named as presiding Convention Chair for the 2017 Organizing Convention which will be held on May 20, 2017 at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy, UT.
The current Utah Republican Party Chairman historically chairs the annual convention, however because there is a contested race for the position of Chairman, the UTGOP Convention Arrangements Committee has asked Thomas Wright to chair the convention. Wright commented; “I am honored to be named as presiding Chair over the upcoming 2017 Organizing Convention. I look forward to serving the Utah Republican Party in this capacity, it will be a great gathering of delegates, elected officials and likeminded Republicans.”
