SLC Democratic Party Elects New Executive Committee for 2025–2027 Term

The Salt Lake County Democratic Party is proud to announce the election of its new Executive Committee, chosen by delegates during the 2025 County Convention. The newly elected leadership team will serve a two-year term from 2025 to 2027.

The new executive committee was elected May 3 at the Salt Lake County Democratic Party Convention held at Midvale Middle School.

The incoming Executive Committee is as follows:

  • Chair: Jade Valazquez
  • First Vice Chair: Michelle Rivera
  • Second Vice Chair: Jesus Jimenez-Vivanco
  • Secretary: Jared Eborn
  • Treasurer: David Rodgers

Chair Jade Valazquez addressed delegates following the election, saying, “Our message today was clear: Salt Lake County Democrats are advancing a bold agenda to lower the cost of living, ensure clean air and water, and invest in clean energy. With the launch of our new Small Business and Interfaith Caucuses, we’re bringing together experience and fresh energy to give residents something to believe in.”

First Vice Chair Michelle Rivera emphasized the importance of grassroots organizing and data-driven strategy: “I am humbled by the amount of support I received by the delegates at convention. The delegates are the backbone of the party. It is our job collectively to support our candidates and get us more Democratic seats in local government. With my data analytics background, I know that we can create thorough plans for each specific district, and help continue to build on our progress of making Salt Lake County a truly blue county.”

Second Vice Chair Jesus Jimenez-Vivanco will focus on supporting and growing the various caucus groups in the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. “ Thank you to everyone who supported me, believed in our shared vision, and continues to do the hard work of building strong, inclusive communities. I’m excited to get to work supporting our caucuses, lifting up new leaders, and making sure every voice has a place in our party. I’m ready to hit the ground running and support the incredible work already happening across our caucuses and communities.”

Jared Eborn, newly elected Secretary, shared his motivation for stepping into a leadership role: “After participating from the sidelines for too long, I felt compelled to get more actively involved with the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. I believe the time is now to put more energy, resources, and effort into electing more Democrats and fewer Republicans to offices in Salt Lake County and the rest of Utah. The Republican supermajority has gotten out of hand and no longer listens to or respects the voices of their constituents. We need to change that and I am excited to get to work with the new Executive Council.”

Treasurer David Rodgers highlighted the importance of financial transparency and donor engagement: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the Treasurer of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. Monetary donations are an essential aspect of electing candidates and training party officers, and I’m dedicated to enhancing the culture of transparency and accountability among the donors and candidates that espouse democratic values and principles.”

The Salt Lake County Democratic Party looks forward to a productive and transformative term under this new leadership, with a renewed focus on inclusivity, effective governance, and building Democratic momentum across all corners of the county.

In addition to the county executive committee, leadership was elected in each House District withing Salt Lake County as well as to numerous issue and identity caucus groups. A full list of election results can be found at SLCountyDems.com
