Former Gov. Gary Herbert endorses Cyndi Sharkey for Sandy mayor

Former Utah Governor Gary Herbert has officially endorsed Cyndi Sharkey in her campaign for Sandy City Mayor, calling her the experienced and trusted leader the city needs.

“I am proud to endorse Cyndi Sharkey for Sandy Mayor,” said Governor Herbert. “Her experience on the Planning Commission and City Council have given her the expertise to lead Sandy City during these challenging times. I am impressed by her command of local issues and the deep relationships she has formed with community and state leaders. A vote for Cyndi is a vote for success!”

Sharkey brings more than a decade of civic involvement and public service to her candidacy. In addition to her work on the Sandy City Council, she has served on the Planning Commission and worked closely with residents, businesses, and regional leaders to shape thoughtful policy that reflects the community’s values. Her deep understanding of city planning, budgeting, and growth management, combined with her steady leadership style, sets her apart in the race. With a proven track record of listening, collaborating, and getting things done, Sharkey is widely seen as the candidate best prepared to lead Sandy into its next chapter.

“I’m honored to have Governor Herbert’s endorsement,” Sharkey said. “He has been a strong example of principled leadership in Utah, and I am grateful for his trust and confidence in my ability to serve the people of Sandy.”

The endorsement underscores Sharkey’s momentum as she continues to meet with residents, listen to their priorities, and share her vision for a city government that works better for everyone. Ballots will be mailed in mid-July, and voters are encouraged to return them by August 12 to ensure their voices are heard in this important election.
