Today, Dave Robinson—a longtime Salt Lake City resident, housing innovator, and grassroots operative—officially filed his Notice of Intent to Gather Signatures for Candidacy for Utah’s 1st Congressional District. Robinson is running on a platform of “Governing: Not Division and Empty Promises,” positioning himself as a results-oriented alternative to the political establishment’s “uniparty” and extreme activist candidates who are light on successes and heavy on rhetoric.
With an emphasis on transparency, due process, and accountability, Robinson says, “I’m not a career politician or an outrage merchant. I’m a problem-solver who has spent years in the trenches of water policy, land use, and housing.” Robinson continues, “I’ve seen how the establishment and ‘uniparty’ work behind closed doors, manipulating the system and making you pay their steep price. I’m running to bring that work into the light of day and serve the people of CD1. You deserve representation with a track record of hard work and competence, not deception and closed doors.”
Robinson’s candidacy is defined by a career of “hands-on” successes that directly affect CD1 residents:
- “Gondola Ben”: Robinson has been a fierce advocate for transparency and due process, famously holding officials accountable for millions of taxpayer dollars spent behind closed doors on the Mountain Accord. Robinson exposed how Ben McAdams secretly schemed to transfer treasured, high-value federal lands to billionaire donors for private development, and laid the groundwork for the wildly unpopular Little Cottonwood Canyon gondola.
- Ending the HOA Racket: In a state where elected officials have failed homeowners to favor mega-donors and lobbyists, Robinson is the only candidate vowing to break the “Frustrating Loop” of non-accountability that allows predatory HOA management companies and law firms to strip equity from Utah families. Because state and local officials will not protect Utah homeowners, Robinson calls for federal oversight of HOA debt collectors and for the enforcement of federal laws governing them.
- Securing Public Access: Robinson works with federal and private landowners and backcountry user groups to ensure permanent recreational access in our canyons—proving that public recreation and private landowners can coexist and thrive.
- The Infill Revolution: As a builder, Robinson successfully creates workforce housing by navigating the bureaucratic red tape and “antiquated ordinances” that current leaders only talk about fixing.
Robinson officially filed with the Utah Lieutenant Governor’s Office today.
In a move that signals strong grassroots outreach, Robinson has announced his intent to seek the nomination through both the Republican delegate convention and the signature-gathering process.
